Profiles & Setup
Open the questions that match what you are trying to solve.
Can I edit my name, bio, and home airport later?
Yes. Your initial onboarding choices help personalise the app quickly, but they are not meant to lock you into a permanent profile forever. You can update your name, bio, and home airport later from your profile or settings area. This applies to both Pilot and Traveler mode because these are core profile fields rather than mode-specific ones. It is normal for your profile to evolve over time as you move airports, refine how you want to present yourself, or simply want better profile quality. If a change does not appear instantly everywhere, refresh the relevant screen and give the app a moment to catch up. Public-facing profile details may take a little longer to look fully updated across social surfaces.
Do I need to upload a profile photo?
No, a profile photo is helpful but not required. FlightLeague lets you upload an avatar during onboarding because it makes your profile feel more complete and makes social interactions easier to recognise, but you can still use the app without one. This applies in both Pilot and Traveler mode. If you skip the photo at first, you may see occasional setup prompts reminding you that your profile is still incomplete, especially in places where a fuller identity improves discovery or connections. Those prompts are there to help rather than to block progress. You can always add or change a photo later if you decide you want a more polished profile or stronger presence in the community.
What is my friend code and how do I use it?
Your friend code is a simple way for other users to find you directly without needing to search by display name alone. It is generated as part of profile setup and appears on your profile so you can share it with friends, classmates, or other users you want to connect with. This works for both pilots and travelers. It is especially useful if your name is common or if you want a quicker, more reliable route to the right profile. If someone enters your friend code in the connections area, they should be able to find you more directly than through broad search. Sharing a friend code does not automatically make your content public; visibility still depends on your entry settings.
Can I switch between Pilot mode and Traveler mode?
Your mode choice shapes the logging fields, dashboard summaries, and profile identity you see, so it is an important setup decision. If you are wondering whether you can switch, the key thing to remember is that Pilot mode and Traveler mode are built around different types of records. Pilot mode is for operating aircraft and logging pilot details. Traveler mode is for tracking passenger trips and travel history. If you selected the wrong one during setup, the best approach is to review your profile and account options carefully before building too much history. If the app does not offer a simple direct mode change in your current flow, contact support before creating duplicate records or a second account.
What profile details can pilots add?
Pilot mode includes profile fields that help represent your aviation background and make your account feel more relevant to training, logging, and community use. These can include your licence type, years of experience, aircraft ratings, home airport, bio, and photo. The purpose is not just cosmetic. These details help shape your pilot identity on profile screens and can make discovery, connections, and context in social areas feel more meaningful. You do not need to treat your profile like a formal résumé, but adding the basics can make the app work better for you. If you are a student pilot, it is perfectly fine for those details to be lightweight and grow as your training progresses.
What profile details can travelers add?
Traveler mode includes profile details that reflect how you travel rather than how you fly as a pilot. These can include a favourite airline, travel goal, seat preference, home airport, bio, display identity, and profile photo. Together, those details help FlightLeague show the right dashboard tone, traveler stats, and social identity in a way that feels tailored to passengers and enthusiasts. None of these fields need to be overly formal. They are there to make your account more expressive and more useful when you look back at your travel history. If your preferences change over time, you can update them later so your profile continues to reflect the way you actually travel now.
Why does FlightLeague say my profile is incomplete?
An incomplete profile message usually means one or more helpful setup fields are still missing, such as your photo, bio, home airport, or mode-specific details. It is not a punishment and does not usually stop you from using the app. Instead, it is a nudge designed to help you unlock a more polished experience across the dashboard, profile, and social surfaces. Both Pilot and Traveler mode can show these prompts because a complete profile improves identity, discovery, and context for everyone. If you prefer to fill things in gradually, that is fine. The best approach is to open your profile, look for the missing fields or prompts, and complete the ones that matter most to you first.

Can I add my social handles to my profile?›
Yes. FlightLeague profiles support social handle fields for platforms such as Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn. This is available to both pilots and travelers and is meant to help you present a fuller identity if you want to connect your aviation or travel presence across platforms. Adding handles is optional, so you can keep your profile focused only on in-app activity if you prefer. If you do add them, it is worth checking they are accurate and still current, since profile visitors may use them to find you elsewhere. These handles do not replace FlightLeague’s own friend and connection features, but they can complement them for users who like sharing a broader public presence.
